PACKAGING FOR GROWTH

Bulacan Brew Organic Coffee is a classic example of how a company can grow its business through packaging. The product, grown by a farmer's association and distributed by a women's cooperative, was originally packed in a plastic bag, sinamay, ribbons and paper label. To make the product market ready immediately, SMPP recommended the use of generic stand-up-pouch with a paper label.

As the product's market grew, SMPP developed an eye-catching printed pouch, designed by its Design Centre, to project an upscale image and appeal to more discriminating coffee drinkers. Additional packaging features like the center seal and two- side gusset ensured product integrity, longer shelf life, larger advertising space, and convenience in handling and transporting.

With its new packaging, the product could now easily compete side-by-side with well-known coffee brands on the supermarket shelves.
