Glass Handling Tips Washing and Storage 1. Put a plastic cover over glass products to protect it from dust and other contaminants. 2. Keep bottles with Applied Color Labels (ACL) away from air with high sulfide content (such as near a polluted river) to prevent the print from turning black. 3. Store bottles in low-humidity, well-ventilated areas to prevent glass from becoming bloomy or weathered within 30 - 60 days. 4. Avoid sudden changes in temperature and use the right amount and concentration of caustic soda when washing the bottles. Handling and Transport 1. Stack palletized bottles only up to 3 layers high only. 2. Stack shipping cartons only up to 20 layers high only. 3. Use protective liners, partitions, or other cushioning materials to prevent bottle-to-bottle contact. 4. Avoid sudden impact between bottles at the filling lines. |
